HHLA TK Estonia operating in the port of Muuga handled almost 21,700 containers in November – the largest volume in the last two and a half years.
“The November results show that the container shortage observed this year for several months has begun to decrease and the containerized goods are starting to move again,” said Riia Sillave, Chair of the Management Board of HHLA TK Estonia. “For HHLA TK Estonia is also important that last month we handled the largest number of containers in the history of our terminal during a single visit to the ship.”
According to Sillave, the forecast for the coming months also indicates a revival of trade, and the beginning of the year promises good results. “From January to February, the movement of summer goods – garden furniture and other seasonal items – is already expected,” she added.
In November, HHLA TK Estonia terminal in Muuga handled 21,686 TEU. The last time container traffic was higher than that was in March 2019.
Riia Sillave noted that considering the planned vessel visits and cargo flows, it can be predicted that this year the total number of containers handled by HHLA TK Estonia will amount to approximately 225,000 TEU, which is the highest figure in the last seven years.
HHLA TK Estonia is a part of the leading European logistics group Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) that operates container terminals in Hamburg, Odessa, Trieste and Muuga, as well as runs logistics interconnections and intermodal centres in many regions of Central and Eastern Europe.
