On Friday, 17th of February the German Federal Minister for Digital and Transport, Dr. Volker Wissing, concluded his visit to the Baltic states with a final episode in the Northern Hub of HHLA, at the terminal in Muuga Harbour in Estonia. The delegation was welcomed by the CEO of Port of Tallinn, Mr. Valdo Kalm who expressed the importance of HHLA’s investments in Estonia and supported the vision to grow to the logistics hub for North-South transport channel.

Furthermore, Riia Sillave, the CEO of HHLA TK Estonia, showed the Federal Minister the digital agenda of the terminal – with digital being strongly in the DNA of the Estonians. At the Muuga terminal, several innovative projects are tested and carried out like teleoperated terminal driving, fully automated gate system or recovery of counter-flow energy of the harbour cranes. Small and dynamic terminal is an ideal place for HHLA to test smart solutions for other terminals across Europe.

On the terminal tour, the two STS cranes delivered to Muuga from Hamburg in 2021 were also visited by the minister – a solid investment aimed at serving future trade flows, was noted.
