In September, the HHLA TK Estonia general cargo terminal at the Port of Muuga handled the largest general cargo volume in the past seven years — over 125,000 tons — primarily supported by Estonia’s pellet and grain exports. The import volume was supplemented by various metal products destined for the Estonian construction sector.

According to Andres Uusoja, Chief Commercial Officer of HHLA TK Estonia, wood pellets accounted for 52,300 tons, while wheat and barley together made up approximately 65,000 tons of the total cargo volume.

“September’s cargo volumes highlight HHLA TK Estonia’s role as a key trade gateway — both in exporting the output of Estonia’s manufacturing and agricultural sectors and in importing essential production inputs for the domestic economy,” commented Uusoja.

The HHLA TK Estonia`s general cargo terminal offers 86,500 square meters of covered storage space for various bulk and palletized goods, in addition to open storage areas. In total, HHLA TK Estonia has the capacity to handle up to one million tons of bulk cargo annually.

HHLA TK Estonia is a part of the leading European logistics group Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) that operates container terminals in Hamburg, Odessa, Trieste and Muuga, as well as runs logistics interconnections and intermodal centres in many regions of Central and Eastern Europe.
