HHLA TK Estonia hosts Bundeswehr field hospital during NATO medical exercise Vigorous Warrior 2026

HHLA TK Estonia contributed to the international NATO medical exercise Vigorous Warrior 2026 by providing space at its Muuga terminal for a large Bundeswehr-led field hospital. The Role 3 field hospital assembled for the exercise marked the largest Bundeswehr training deployment of its kind in more than 30 years.
Vigorous Warrior 2026 is a biennial medical exercise that brings together military and civilian medical and emergency response capabilities from more than 30 Allied and partner countries to practise cooperation in complex crisis and wartime scenarios.
Vigorous Warrior 2026 focused on the full chain of medical support — from providing care in the field and stabilising casualties to evacuation and higher-level treatment, including cooperation with civilian hospitals.
On 17 June, HHLA TK Estonia also hosted a visitors’ day at the terminal, where guests were introduced to the field hospital and to the cooperation between military and civilian services. Visitors included Estonia’s Minister of Social Affairs Karmen Joller and German Ambassador to Estonia Jan Scheer.
“Ports and logistics infrastructure play an important role not only in everyday trade, but also in crisis preparedness and resilience. We were honoured to support an exercise that strengthened cooperation between Allies, public authorities and civilian services. The professional organisation of Vigorous Warrior 2026 clearly demonstrated how important it is to know our partners and practise joint procedures before a real crisis occurs,” said Riia Sillave, CEO of HHLA TK Estonia.
HHLA TK Estonia thanks the Bundeswehr, the Estonian Defence Forces, the Health Board, NATO’s Centre of Excellence for Military Medicine, the participating medical institutions, public authorities and all Allied and partner countries involved for the excellent cooperation throughout the exercise.
